Campus Hotel Debrecen has been opened to guests in the neighborhood of Főnix Hall since August 10, 2005. The three-star hotel was built at the Kassai street campus of the University of Debrecen next to Road 4. The large closed university area and the hotel as well can be found a 15-minute walk from the downtown of Debrecen and a 5-minute walk from the Great Forest.
In 2003 the government decided that new dormitory capacity of 10 thousand beds should be created for universities. The program is to be organized by the Ministry of Education and fulfilled by the cooperation of private investors. The first dormitory built as PPP deal was finished in Debrecen approx. one year after the foundation stone had been laid down. The hotel was constructed according to the plans of Ferenc Bán, DLA holding Kossuth and Ybl Awards and Zoltán László, architect. During the preparation of plans the opinion of students was also considered. Final plans of the hotel were accepted by the University Council in February, 2003. HUNÉP Universal Rt., Debrecen has won the tender of construction works with an offer including the building of the hotel having 930 beds and an area of 17 thousand square meters at a cost of 4 billion HUF to construct and operation for 24 years after opening the facility.
The hotel in Debrecen consists of two buildings encircling a beautiful park. At the top of both hotel building roof terraces serve relaxation. There are 25 single and 161 double rooms all equipped with bathroom, color TV and fridge and air conditioned in Building “A” of the hotel. There are 138 double and 99 triple rooms all equipped with bathroom and kitchen corner in Building “B”.
Campus Hotel in Debrecen provides every convenience service that residents of guests may need: restaurant, bar, buffet, bowling bar offering also table football and darts, fitness room and sunbed are waiting for university students and guests of Debrecen. Beside Campus Hotel a handball and a basketball court are available for lovers of sports. Guests’ and residents’ everyday life is facilitated by the photocopy shop, automated bank branch and ATM and a laundry providing multiple services, while their safety and convenience are guaranteed by the 24-hour reception, spacious parking lot, 24-hour security service and safe. There are hot drink, soft drink and snack machines located at the corridors. Campus Hotel Debrecen is a three-star hotel to visitors of Debrecen excluding the University study period or in case of vacancy during the study period.
